rammed earth lodges by OF. studio provide a unique experience

located in a valley of tupungato, argentina, ‘eco-wine lodges’ takes shape as a series of abstract scattered volumes, made out of rammed earth,  connected by different long pathways. OF. studio sought to form a hotel for wine tourism with a highly sustainable imprint that aims to offer visitors a unique experience. the architects intended to keep a balance between introverted and extroverted experiences; an isolated yet intimate feeling when guests are inside the lodges and a very open and communal atmosphere when walking towards the paths.

a series of layered sustainable systems

OF.  studio (see more here) strategically positioned the masses on the terrain, considering the best temperature gaining through all the year, also making the most of andes mountain isolated views. the general composition is the result of a series of layered sustainable systems working together. having as an initial system the natural curves of the landscape, the architects created a second layer composed of a series of paths with different hierarchies that invite users to wander and discover the natural scenery.

the following layer comprises water fixtures, including eco pools, water storage for watering, and a network of irrigation channels. irrigation channels work not only as a dynamic element in the composition but also as a way to water all the natural vegetation of the hotel.

natural vegetation and vegetable gardens complete the fifth layer, which is also used for the internal use of the hotel. finally, the architectural layer is added to the general composition as a series of volumes materialized in rammed earth, using natural sand of the terrain. architecture is perceived as abstract volumes in gentle communication with its environment. it does not intend to imitate elements of nature but to be in perfect harmony and dialogue with it, becoming part of a new contemporary landscape.
