olson kundig architects: gethsemane lutheran church
olson kundig architects have been commissioned to design the redevelopment of gethsemane lutheran church social services and housing project in downtown seattle. groundbreaking will start in january 2011 and construction will be completed in 2012. jim olson, faia, founding principal of olson kundig architects, is leading the remodel of the building’s exterior and church’s main sanctuary, as well as designing the parish life center, a garden and chapel. in this effort, olson is also teaming up with the project’s executive architects, SMR architects, to design the five-story affordable housing unit, known as the hope center.
