barcelona-based firm ON-A has converted the seminary of tarragona in tarragona, spain into ‘pontifical seminary reform’, a cultural center and renewed landmark for the city. a contemporary roof structure spans across the previously open-air courtyards, preserving the once outdoor facades and arcades. a chapel, roman wall and library are opened within the existing structure, unveiling the heritage which has been previously hidden to the public. the intervention includes science, art, religion and history all under one roof.
