beit kandinof is an historical structure built in old jaffa during the early 20th century having almost completely survived the numerous wars fought in the area. uniting the world of hospitality with the arts, opa architects restore beit kandinof into a resto-bar that showcases local artwork and hosts exhibitions. the aim of the project was to plan and design a space with minimal intervention of the existing façade.

beit kandinof’s entrance is a bright white space with a bar made of aluminum profiles used for industry. the entrance then leads to the main space — previously a commercial street with shops — where the artists studios are located. opa architects installed wireframe arches made of construction iron, tracing the shape of the original arches. the pre-existing stones remain exposed throughout the space with hints of deep turquoise to create a stark contrast between tradition and contemporary.
