‘TUNGUSKA’ restaurant by LEFTdesign reflects the beauty and strength of siberian taiga, an ecoregion in krasnoyarsk, russia. avoiding old-fashioned traditional russian decoration, the interior adopts a spirit of the region’s natural habitat. meanwhile, local natural eco-friendly materials combined with a zero-waste concept complete the project.organic-shaped restaurant interior reflects the beauty of the siberian natural habitatall images courtesy of LEFTdesign

a key element of the new restaurant was environmental awareness and responsible consumption, thanks to the installation of modern air purification technologies. one of the main tasks was to have an open kitchen with a traditional russian stove with zero-pollution ventilation system. LEFTdesign decided to create an ambiance of an endless siberian taiga and far north of siberia, whilst also honoring the local rivers – such as enisey, tunguska that provide people regional products like local fish and meat, used in everyday life in the northern parts of siberia and also feature in the menu of ‘TUNGUSKA’.organic-shaped restaurant interior reflects the beauty of the siberian natural habitat

the majority of the materials utilized in this project were locally sourced; the flooring is a form of terrazzo created from enisey pebbles, while the bar and kitchen counters are made from locally mined solid granite. the partitions and walls took shape from natural tree trunks, sourced from the nearby forests that dried there for several years. furthermore, metal pipes clad kitchen hoods, stove and stairs reflect the rocks that one can see on tunguska’s riversides.organic-shaped restaurant interior reflects the beauty of the siberian natural habitat

the handcrafted floor lights were inspired by traditional fishing tools of the people from the far north. sofas with metal backs reflect lights and look like an island in the river while the metal mesh on the ceiling waves like polar lights. elements of graphic design and logo are based on ancient petroglyphs found in the caves and rocks. moreover, the restroom took form on the down level, adopting a mysterious character highlighted by special music based on shaman’s throat singing. all these elements are combined to create a unique, calm and cozy atmosphere that gives a real sense of luxury. organic-shaped restaurant interior reflects the beauty of the siberian natural habitat
