edificio acqua is a six-storey residential complex in punta del este, uruguay and the first building completed by rafael vinoly in his home country. the L-shaped building faces the atlantic ocean with a series of terraced levels. this design element helps minimize the building’s mass when viewed from the beach and also creates room for six special units that have their own private patios and pools. in all the units the living and dining areas face the water while the bedroom and other spaces are located at the back of the apartments. the façade is clad in jura stone that has been encrusted with aquatic fossils. there is also an aluminum wall and wood slats on the balconies.
