located in the north coast of the rhuys peninsula, the ‘holiday home’ by raum architects takes place at the edge of a lightly residential area overhanging the sea. the project is set up within the vegetation of a sloping hill and offers several living areas connected to the outside in a particular way. the structure of the building and the windows are made out of a timber to accompany the facade, which is lined with dark vertical wood slats to contrast the light color palette of the neighboring architecture. meanwhile, the floor plates are composed of solid concrete that rigidly turn to navigate up out of the ground and rise up like a mountaintop. the lower level proposes an entire free space, where two enclosed moveable beds allow residents to sleep both inside on the terrace facing the garden or outside in the courtyard. up above, the main bedroom opens onto the exterior through a large rectangular pane of glass providing expansive views of the town. the massing is crowned with a green roof that moves in respect to the interior and camouflages the overall form within the surrounding landscape.
