ACH House by Wiyoga Nurdiansyah is split into two lean masses

Wiyoga Nurdiansyah design practice constructs ACH House, located in an urban residential area of South Jakarta. The building extends backward on the site, strategically maximizing air circulation and optimizing green spaces. The mass sequence is divided into two lean masses, creating an inner court nestled between them. This innovative layout efficiently utilizes the built area while leaving ample room for lush greenery. Facing south, the front of the house showcases exposed red brick stacking at a 45-degree angle, resulting in a unique textured facade. A saddle roof design allows for increased openings without compromising privacy. The orientation of these openings points towards the north and south, skillfully avoiding direct sunlight.

two-story ACH House strategically arranges the living areas

Common spaces benefit from wide openings, ensuring natural ventilation without the need for artificial means. The material palette features exposed cement, red brick, and solid teak wood, blending modernity with natural warmth. The two-story ACH House is laid out to cater to various needs. The ground floor serves as a functional service area and accommodates the kids’ bedrooms, while the second floor houses the spacious common rooms. Bedrooms are strategically arranged, allowing for optimal views, ventilation, and natural light as they adjoin the garden or swimming pool.

The foyer on the ground floor is adjacent to the inner court. The main living room, pantry and dining room is on the second floor with a high ceiling following the shape of a sloping roof and accessible by ramp from the front area. The second-floor swimming pool, positioned at the center of the inner court, serving as a focal point that fosters a positive spatial relationship with the surrounding areas. From the entrance through the ramp to the terrace, each space is designed by Wiyoga Nurdiansyah Architects to create an engaging and enriching spatial experience, a dynamic sequence of unfolding spaces.
