renzo piano has agreed to complete a 350,000 square foot mixed-use development in the suburban town of san ramon, northern california. the scheme – known as ‘city center’ – will be adjacent to the bishop ranch business park, comprising retail outlets, dining facilities and community services contained within six glazed pavilions articulated around a generously proportioned central plaza. the project is intended to both stimulate the local economy and catalyze the future development of the region. renzo piano building workshop is working with local practice BCV architects on the design, which is scheduled to open to the public in late 2016.
