on february 12, 2018, RESONATE lisbon will bring together architects, artists, and experts to discuss architecture’s fourth dimension — acoustics. principals from renowned architecture firms diller scofidio + renfro, snøhetta, foster + partners, and henning larsen architects will exchange with sound designers from meyer sound, arup, and several artists and performers. ‘sound is at the very heart of our human experience,’ say the founders of meyer sound, john and helen meyer, who are collaborating on this event with its main co-organizers and curators, MAAT museum and reSITE.

at the event, elizabeth diller will present DS+R’s longstanding engagement with architecture in sound, including the transformation of the lincoln center, the high line, and the shed. she will also speak about the museum of image and sound on copacabana beach in rio de janeiro. peer teglgaard jeppesen, partner at henning larsen architects, will also present his firm’s work, before the day culminates with snøhetta’s kjetil t. thorsen speaking discussing the oslo opera house. among other topics, thorsen will speak about the challenge of designing a concert hall that attempts to strike a balance between reverberant orchestral sound while carrying a clear voice from opera singers.
