rojkind arquitectos' foro boca concert hall to rise as concrete volumes in mexico

home to the boca del rio philharmonic orchestra, in the recent years, the city of veracruz in mexico has become a place for musical and cultural expression. the masterplan developed by rojkind arquitectos seeks to regenerate the deteriorating urban area and construct a concert hall situated right on the coast. the plot; rich with local history and with plenty of potential, is located by the estuary of a river. referencing the rip raps seen in the breakwater and reinterpreting this as a structural form, the expansive structure takes shape as rising concrete cubes.

the concrete volumes will hold the various programs within the concert hall. the main stage, will have appropriate for classical, tradition and contemporary music for an audience of 850, the space can be adapted for dance and theater performances. meanwhile, the back of house area has been designed specifically for the orchestra, containing all the facilities needed. not only will ‘foro boca’ become a catalyst for social interaction, but will also create a diverse point for entertainment and an exciting image for this part of the city.

  • I know the city quite well, and i have some doubts about this project design wise,
    the location, and materials…

  • First rendering is incredible, can feel the volumes, composition and materiality of the architecture… other than this, from the images present, including interiors… an unremarkable project.. :(….
