emerging amid the arid landscape of lagonisi, greece, the monolithic white residence seems to be floating over the ground with an angle of six degrees. rising out of the earth, ‘house 6°’ designed by mado samiou architecture contrasts with the blue sky, generating a sense of timelessness and serenity. this unconventional volume, harmoniously confronts the mild slope of the existing topography, incorporating a seamless cohesion between private and common areas.slightly rotated monolithic 'house 6°' floats amid the greek arid landscapeall images courtesy of mado samiou architecture

following this approach, the dwelling unfolds in two contrasted layers; private areas are immersed into the flooring, offering direct connection with the earth while common areas are elevated onto the upper levels. two large floor-to-ceiling openings interrupt the solidity of the structure, providing unobstructed views towards the unblemished surroundings. mado samiou architecture sought to generate a protected environment shielding its occupants from strong winds and sun, as well as defining a sense of privacy and isolation.slightly rotated monolithic 'house 6°' floats amid the greek arid landscape

to highlight the calming balance further and to offer a unique lighting experience during the day, each space is illuminated by skylights. rectangular-shaped openings penetrate the ceiling, allowing natural light and ventilation to flow throughout the interior. embracing the simplicity and purity of the scenery, the architects sought to create a temple-like feeling avoiding noise and vulgarity. slightly rotated monolithic 'house 6°' floats amid the greek arid landscape
