‘all you need is’ by SA lab is a project made for the ‘young architects in modern development’ competition, held during the international investment forum proestate 2014. the main task of the event was to design a courtyard in a contemporary dwelling complex that has been adapted for the natural coexistence of different groups of people and activities. thus, the space is governed by a self-sufficient system that has the ability to change over time, depending on the community’s needs and all the necessary elements of the environment.

site plan

to achieve these goals, the architects used parametric design approach and the idea of an ‘isosurface’, which is a plane that represents points of a constant value (e.g. pressure, temperature, velocity, density) within a defined volume of space. this synthetic topography is based on the location of the main functional zones that have been dispersed throughout the site and the main transit routes which run across it. each area has been given its own color, while the unifying structure is made in white.

central space

the central multifunctional space is located on the crossroad of two main transit axes. near it there are two zones for teenagers and another two for middle-aged people. these pieces of the puzzle have taken active and passive recreational hobbies into account, with the appropriation of exercising equipment, climbing walls, open green lawns, and a library. four corresponding playgrounds for kids are located at equal distances from the buildings along with four relaxing areas for the elderly, which provide benches, chess tables, and flowerbeds. intermingled with this context, citizens can also walk their pets below a collection of LED-lit terraces that feature embedded solar panels.
