Contekst Architectuur designs exclusive guesthouse ‘Câlin’

Nestled in a secluded and calm setting in the southeast of France, ‘Câlin’ is an exclusive Provence homestay designed by Antwerp-based Contekst Architectuur. The residence enjoys undisturbed views of long-stretched wine fields, trees, and mountains standing in the quiet and natural environment of Valréas. The project incorporates the artistic element into the structure as a reference to the area’s reputation as a place for art and artists. Adding curiousness and meaning to the walls and spaces, a curated group of artworks has been integrated into the interior, representing both young and established artists, notably Belgian. The subtle material and color selection seamlessly blends the frame with its natural surroundings.

contemporary design and art merge within the natural setting

Connoisseurs of art, the architects at Contekst have curated most of the works on display. ‘Câlin‘ showcases top-level artistry and craftsmanship as a result of the owners’ clear ambition of intriguing and enriching the guests’ overall experience. ‘Câlin’ attends to visual fulfillment as well as comfort throughout the design. The site provides access to several activities and local excursions, such as wine tasting, truffle hunting, cycling, or hiking. Furthermore, the guesthouse allows for in-house services like yoga classes, massages, or catering. The project embraces the region’s local culture, and traditional architecture, and merges with its surrounding natural parks. One of the focal points of the planning is the combination of contemporary design and art.
