located in budapest, hungary is the ‘capsula multibrand store’, a luxury retail company shop designed by hungarian architects sandor gocsei + eniko korompay. flowing and curving white surfaces wrap the interior space, accentuating the building’s historic columns. shaded in contrasting black, the structural elements programmatically divide the front and back area’s of the store which feature a drastic change in ceiling heights. upon entry, the primary space reveals a ceiling-mounted fixture of black glass shards placed above a mannequin, directing attention to the featured attire and creating a focal element within the spacious showroom.

a wall of recessed capsules illuminate designer accessories while the collection of shapes within the display reference the ‘a’ from the typography of the boutique’s logo. towards the rear of the showroom is a compressed portal, leading to a an enclosed room with additional garments and dressing rooms. the low ceiling of the blanched room creates an intimate atmosphere which is comfortable for customers while still feeling airy.
