the danish architects schmidt hammer lassen have been shortlisted to design the new international criminal court in the hague, netherlands. the studio is one of three firms slected to move onto the consultation phase. their design consists of rows of various sized towers, united by a low rectangular base. their plans also includes a public garden which will be integrated into the natural wetlands around the site. an exhibition of all 19 entries opened in the hague city hall yesterday. this exhibit features schmidt hammer lassen’s proposal as well as works by mecanoo architecten, david chipperfield and oma / search. dutch firm wiel arets architects & associates and germany’s ingenhoven architects are the other two finalists.
