announced today (september 23 2020) by new world development company limited, shigeru ban and ole scheeren are to design a mixed-use masterplan for hangzhou, china. called ‘hangzhou wangjiang new town’, the program will provide cultural, retail, office and residential functions across a huge area of 4,951,399 ft2 (460,000 m2). 

 

spearheaded by adrian cheng, CEO of new world development and founder of K11 group, the project is set to become an innovative arts and cultural destination that meets the needs of younger generations and contemporary urban lifestyles. to achieve this, the developer has enlisted the unique styles of these leading architects to create a rich juxtaposition for the site.
