storage: fabric rolls

in this project, slowstudio investigates the concept of globalization and information technology which have blurred the lines between everyday life and work. as a result, the designers present the multi-functional work-space as a solution to facilitate both individual and interdisciplinary work, support a broad spectrum of production methods, and encourage people.

the storage core contains 2380 rolls of fabrics, distributed into four rows of sliding racks

the entire space is divided into three main open areas: office, storage and exhibition. each unit has its own core which is surrounder by lateral spaces such as workshops, meeting hubs, lecture rooms and pre-view areas.

around the storage core, workshops and meeting spaces are allocated for the users to interact with the material

wood and concrete have been consistently used throughout the space, offering a calm and casual atmosphere. this effect is further highlighted with the open floor system, which attempts to create a non-hierarchical environment, increase communication, and optimize the flexibility. transparent glass and translucent fabric screen are the primary material used to partition walls, allowing nature light to gently fill the whole space.
