soldevila arquitectos has designed ‘salvador espriu sports complex’, a sports arena located in barcelona, spain. situated between residential neighborhoods and a main throughway, the facility becomes an urban reference with its unique geometry and strong presence.

the rectangular volume, a hallow shell that surrounds a composition of change rooms, equipment storage and administration, is propped into the sky by a grid of triangular supports. slightly inclined towards the south, the design enables easy evacuation and recovery of water from rain that enters through the open roof.

a highly transparent facade with variable tonality surrounds the steel structure, with walls that are formed from industrial and mostly lightweight components. transformed by sunlight and time of day, the building adopts a changing aesthetic  that becomes the buildings key element.
