soloway designs' topper residence in tucson is a desert oasis of luxury + simplicity

soloway designs inc. have realized a modern, luxury desert home in tucson, arizona, complete with floor to ceiling window walls and outdoor spa. the house, called ‘topper residence’, was designed as a contemporary, open building with minimal barriers to capture the stunning desert vistas and mountain views of the surrounding landscape.

in approaching the project, soloway designs drew on ideals of dynamic simplicity, creating clean, uncomplicated architectural elements that allow the natural desert to become an integral part of the interior living experience. elegant minimalism drives the choice of rectangular, sand-finished stucco walls, ceramic panel accents, and a flying roof over the patio and front entry supported by thin unobtrusive columns.

uninterrupted floor to ceiling windows provide extraordinary views of the pool and spa, framed by the desert and mountains beyond. through the front entry lies the ‘great room’, whose all encompassing window walls combine to bring inside the ever changing desert views. floating rectangular soffits along with recessed ceiling & edge lighting combine to quietly differentiate the various working and entertaining spaces. tongue and groove wood panels line the patio roof, itself slanted upward so as to not restrict mountain views from the inside. a few steps on to the patio and into the desert lie the recessed outdoor kitchen and dining area, as well as an incredible infinity-edge pool and spa.

window walls continue into the master bedroom where the mood is minimal and mature

as the mountain views blend into the night, city lights spark up in the distance
