some: ideal tower

parisian architecture firm, some has completed ‘ideal tower’, a small studio for french fashion brand ideal bank. the store front and studio, located in paris’ densely populated 11th androssiment aimed to interject interest and focus into the structure, previously occupied by ironmongers.

a small tower, built on and around the main stairwell, penetrates the space providing vertical connection to the three levels. housing an office, conference space, workshop and storage, the tower conceals unsightly secondary functions while expanding the limited floor space.

the tower

light wood and cold rolled square metal tubing add texture and material interest to the the long and narrow space that is flooded with natural light. a suspended ceiling, adorned with a soft bird motif, hangs above the main space, surrounded by recessed lighting.

coves and display boxes, inlayed with the same wood that covers the floor surfaces add dimension to the flat space and allow select articles of clothing to be featured.
