souldern road residence
this west london home was dos architects’ first london refurbishment and mainly consisted of a contemporary rear expansion made of glass. the team designed a double height space at the rear of the home, clad almost entirely in glass. inside, they commissioned a series of custom lighting solutions by pslab. these fixtures were tailored to the new space, working closely with the architects. the key fixture is a chandelier hung from three u-shaped arms attached to the rear wall’s concrete frame. each of the arms holds a stainless steel cylindrical lighting head at the bottom. the height of the u-shaped arms extends up to the second floor, creating a dramatic focal point for the tall room. elsewhere, there is a related cylindrical lighting head hung over the stairs and a similar formal language was also used on the outdoor lighting.
