designed by space modification unit (SMU), cinker pictures shanghai (cpsh) is the latest venture of the architectural interior design studio. the venue is a transformative art space that combines a boutique theatre with a relaxed wine and dine experience.
the entrance lobby

smu‘s design is inspired by the futuristic chic of the last century, as well as contemporary light art. its main materials are terrazzo, velour and brushed metal, reminiscent of the past glam.
the entrance passage
the space is divided into several chapters that are visually coherent. the lobby, lounges, bar, restaurant, cinema and gallery each tell their part of the story.
bar fitted with custom lighting inspired by contemporary media art
the patrons are greeted with the familiar cinker signature pink upon arrival. from here, a seemingly infinite tunnel of faceted mirror surfaces transit visitors into the lounges. the bar area is fitted with a dominating media light sculpture that will satisfy your needs of color throughout the night.
the bar’s colors change
an intimate banquette area across from the bar provides the spot for a tête-à-tête amid the crowd. both lounges and the restaurant cater wine and food. with their different moods and seating arrangements, guests can choose what suits them best.

the cinema breaks any pattern of normality and a feeling of crowdedness through a focus on design and quality. 26 comfortable recliners and side tables ensure a luxurious and tranquil viewing experience.

the gallery has a backlit ceiling that doubles up as projection surface for the audio-visual performance space. the walls are finished in black mirror to immerse oneself in infinity. cpsh also comprises a terrace equipped with an open-air cinema for a unique outdoor soiree in the urban heart of shanghai.
