stanton williams: eton manor complex for london olympics 2012

london-based firm stanton williams has sent images of the recently completed ‘eton manor’, a complex for the olympic and paralympic aquatic training for the london 2012 olympic park. a cluster of venues accommodating 10,500 spectators for wheelchair tennis events and 3,000 for hockey games, the compound revitalizes its immediate context while creating a northern gateway into the park. the land has been reshaped to create smooth and accessible transitions from the area to bridges and facilities. the freshly layered site engages with its surroundings, transforming the original heritage of the community center into a location for sporting legacy.
