Stella Plage’s Skate Park engages in an Open Public Facility Design

Espace Libre, a landscape and urban planning studio, seamlessly integrates a Skate Park into the urban and landscaped fabric of Stella Plage in Cucq (Pas-de-Calais), France. Positioned between Place de l’Étoile and the seafront, this new 3,000 sqm facility is a key component of Stella Plage’s broader development, which encompasses the redesign of Place de l’Etoile, the creation of ecological corridors along the Cours des Champs Elysées, and a housing program between Place de l’Etoile and the seafront. Nestled amidst the seafront, a residential neighborhood, adjacent streets, and a parking lot, the Skate Park strategically intersects with various urban programs.

Espace Libre harmoniously blends Landscape and Architecture

Conceptualized by Espace Libre creative studio as a park in continuous harmony with peripheral amenities, including a mini climbing wall and a basketball hoop, the concrete curves reflect the fluidity inspired by the imaginary sea and dunes. Catering to scooters, skateboards, bicycles, rollerblades, and enthusiasts of various gliding pursuits, this public facility is intentionally open and unfenced, promoting free movement within designated hours. The Stella Plage Skate Park unfolds as both a landscape and architectural endeavor. The thriving greenery and enthusiastic embrace of the track by thrill-seekers affirm its significance in the community.
