studio AG completes GGL house for a young couple in são paulo set within a narrow 10×30 meter plot. featuring a gabled roof structure, the residential property reinterprets the adjacent traditional houses of the neighborhood while adding a contemporary touch through its façade, built with metal profiles. the house, which uses both classic and modern elements, results in a mix of styles which balance two aspects: beauty and comfort. with an extensive program, its distribution offers three floors plus a rooftop.

for the GGL house, studio AG has set the social area on the first floor. a lower block coated in expanded metal screen, hosts the kitchen, service area and open living room, with direct access to the garden. featuring pivot sliding doors, the kitchen can be integrated to the house, or isolated whenever needed. another emphasized point of the house is the side fair-faced concrete wall, where it was built-in metallic stairs, casting, which allows the light, that comes from the door of the access to the solarium, to reach the lower floors.

the upper bulk holds the private area of the house, comprised of three suites and a living room. the idea of full and empty is elaborated on this block, explored by the rips that emphasize the natural light. an interior garden among the rooms brings nature inside and provides privacy to the back façade, besides illuminating — in a subtle manner — the living room.

bi-fold windows filter light into the bedrooms that are facing the side of the plot and the master suite that has a view to the backyard. the gable roof was asymmetrically designed in order to provide a room for the solarium – a space of contemplation, where the ridge of the roof achieves the maximum height authorized by the law. the swimming pool was the highlight of the project, located in a mandatory setback of 1,50m in one of the sides of the house. it optimizes the space that, in advance, would be unused.
