a color explosion: studio animal completes rainbow-hued store in barcelona

following a bright yellow store in malaga, studio animal shares another dazzling retail space designed for munich sports, this time in barcelona. dubbed ‘spectrum’, the instagramable space is so saturated with color that it looks almost unreal.

a huge concrete column occupies the middle of the 137 sqm (1,475 sqft) store. rather than try to hide the column, studio animal decided to make it the central point. over 20 different colors radiate out from the column like a prism that refracts white light into a rainbow. in this way, the architects sought to evoke the movement and dynamism of the munich sports brand.

‘spectrum follows the line of research in which we have been working in several stores of the brand,’  explains studio animal, ‘in which the use of a powerful graphic applied to the space is capable of generating a project close to an art installation, making the customer live an exceptional and memorable experience. the image generated is almost virtual, achieving an atmosphere that transports you to an unreal state.’

the eye-catching chromatic landscape not only provides customers with a memorable shopping experience, but the various shades also help organize the different products on display. moreover, the rainbow hues generate multiple spatial experiences and evoke different feelings as shoppers move around the store: from cool violet and blues to warm orange and sunny yellow.
