surrounded by a 360 degree view of the ipanema beach, the rs apartment by studio arthur casas matches the client’s request of a summer escape in rio de janeiro and receive their friends in the city. the 520m² floor plan was fully adapted so that most of the rooms – five suites, the integrated living, dining and home area and the service area – could all be located around the perimeter of the apartment to enjoy the stunning views.

studio arthur casas placed the entrance through the center of the apartment, opening up to all the rooms distributed around the facade. this configuration allows every space to have unobstructed views towards the beach and the bay. a minimalist aesthetic dominates the areas, yet keeping a cozy and friendly environment. the chosen furniture for the interiors features a mix of brazilian pieces with international objects, including some pieces designed by arthur casas. the amorfa table, the belly lampshade and the willys sideboard all come form the designer’s personal collection.

a soft palette of travertine navona stone flooring and metal-colored masonry predominate throughout the social rooms. in the living room, earth-toned ceramics are combined with the delfino armchair, and carlito carvalhosa’s painting offers a touch of blue within the neutral colors. meanwhile in the rooms, light oak brings warmth into the space and complements the other room’s aesthetics.

even though the apartments is used as a vacation home, the designers fully integrated the individuality of intimate spaces with the greatness of the living room, an ideal place for guests. to solve for this divided layout, a long, discrete sliding door can be closed to provide privacy, or it can be opened to enlarge the space. a similar feature can be seen in the master bedroom, as the suite can be expanded to join the living space. the harmony between the areas is emphasized by the enveloping view, the natural landscape of rio de janeiro, constantly starring throughout the project.
