studio gang shares construction update of new york high line project

in april it was announced that ’40 tenth avenue’ — a tower designed by studio gang — had topped out in new york. now, four months later, jeanne gang’s firm has shared an update of the project, which is currently under construction along the high line. the form of the 10-floor commercial building is a response to the practice’s research into tall buildings and incident angles of the sun’s rays.

the new images, taken by photographer timothy schenck, show the shape of the tower and its relationship with the adjacent elevated park. the appearance of the structure is also becoming apparent, with glazing now cladding the lower levels of the scheme. ‘it’s been exciting watching its progression, especially as the glass is installed on the building’s carved-away form, which is sculpted by the angles of the sun,’ says studio gang.

developed by aurora capital and william gottlieb real estate, 40 tenth avenue features a dramatic curtain wall that accentuates its chiseled form. containing class-A commercial space, tenants will be afforded panoramic views and over 20,000 square feet of outdoor space. this includes a 10,000 square foot shared roof deck, 8,000 square foot second floor outdoor space adjacent to the high line, and eight floors with private outdoor space.
