after designing the fasano hotel in são paulo’s jardins neighborhood, studio MK27 is invited to design the interiors of fasano’s new mixed-use development in the itaim region. recognized worldwide as a family operation offering gastronomy and hospitality at their best, fasano’s history spans more than 100 years. this new development, comprising the hotel, bars, restaurants, and residential apartments will serve to continue fasano’s renowned name both in brazil and internationally. the interiors of the single tower of four suite apartments are designed by studio MK27 to maintain the identity and heritage of the fasano brand within the context of an increasingly dynamic, youthful neighborhood.

in the design of the fasano itaim residential interiors, studio MK27 makes use of natural materials and warm, ambient lighting. the material palette, including slate shard floors, wooden strip ceilings, and walls finished with walnut panels, generates a cozy atmosphere in the apartment. the living space is illuminated with natural sunlight by a floor-to-ceiling pane of glass joining the living room to the terrace while the opposite wall is covered by a shelving unit and an armani griz marble fireplace separating the social from the private areas. double linen and macramé curtains filter the natural light and the dark surfaces of the panels and furniture.
the living room is organized into three areas designated by neutral toned rugs which mark off the different atmospheres: one zone for the more intimate fireplace, the true living room, and the dining room connected to the gourmet kitchen. each is furnished with pieces that lend a rich dynamic between volumes and textures. modern pieces of brazilian design such as the pétala coffee table by jorge zalszupin are mixed with contemporary counterparts such as the dining table by jader almeida and the international classics such as isamo noguchi’s floor lamp, finnish architect alvar aalto’s floor lamp, and light pendants over the dining table by american architect george nelson.
