studio URMA blur set boundaries with moving and space forming objects

‘moving and space forming objects’ is a public art project by studio URMA, that questions the boundaries within functional architecture. a conventional building holds a set of variables which are static and unchanging. architect and artist christos voutichtis, developed a series of experiments within various locations – including warsaw, prague and milan – which were used to push traditional codes and guidelines. the result aimed to broaden one’s perspective towards what architecture can be, what it can contain and lastly how our relationship towards space can also be shifted. 

christos voutichtis (studio URMA), presented his works in desolate urban spaces, which allowed him to use the space freely. the installation piece itself uses large sheets of plastic wrapped around a structure in order to from a contained space that grows and expands in relation to the outside breeze. this extension questions the disappearance of borders, and instead, an unconventional framework that uses no rules, codes, or any rigid state of order. the structure was granted a performance quality, through its fluid, ever-changing silhouette, blurring the static confines surrounding the architectural form.
