tadao ando shares first new york project: 152 elizabeth street

upon completion of an ‘ultra-luxury’ condominium in nolita, new yorkers will soon be able to embrace a building by famed japanese architect tadao ando. developed by sumida + khurana, the seven-story structure, built from ando’s signature concrete, contains 32,000 square feet of prime real estate. the design of each home is approached as a custom residence, with each unit given the utmost attention to detail and craft.

152 elizabeth street will exhibit vast surfaces of glass along with galvanized steel, and the largest living green wall ando has completed to date — measuring 55 feet high by 99 feet wide. the design encompasses four principle elements, light, sound, air, and water, to define its internal spaces while allowing the surrounding neighborhood to give context to the building.
