the hongodai church school and nursery by japanese firm takeshi hosaka architects is located in in yokohama, situated amongst a forest. the building’s structure is a simple grid consisting of wooden frames and glass windows and doors. on each of the rooms ceilings are fluorescent lights in the shape of a cross. the building allows as much of the outside in – with unlimited views and natural sunlight.

  • With what appears to be complete lack of insulation, the heating/cooling bills will be enormous. Of course the all-glass designs are nice, my parents live in a similar house in USA. But there is an ongoing expense of window cleaning and the energy consumption of environment control is very high. This is a type that would greatly benefit from a solar solution if and when the costs make sense.
