when asked to convert the loft of a private house into a bedroom with a study, that would also had to include a large bookcase, tamir addadi architecture had to face two major challenges: a very tight budget and dealing with a small space. requiring a new means of access to the loft, they designed a combined solution that incorporates a bookcase into a staircase, merging them into one single element.

the aim was to achieve a sense of lightness, despite the introduction of such a large structure. to do so, a new south-facing skylight was added to the loft, enabling natural light to penetrate through the airy staircase space, and illuminate formerly dark areas of the ground and first floors at the core of the house.

the result is an architectural bookcase that not only acts as storage for the owner’s collection of novels and literary volumes, but also adds visual interest to the interior.
