bold color, plants, vibrant artwork and mesh-arches define the character of the interior of the paco’s tacos restaurant by techné. located in victoria in australia, the concept of the establishment was to incorporate the yellow identity of the other branches to create a bright and fun aesthetic, all the while embodying an authentic mexican eatery.

areas painted in pink soften the tone of the restaurant

the spacious plan is distinctively divided by individual height large timber and reo-mesh arches that play with the scale of the 200 square meter floor plan. this is further defined by the block shades of pink, blue and yellow have been used in each zone between the arches, referencing the vibrant, colored facades commonly found in mexican architecture. a courtyard ambience is instilled by the green space and planting throughout in which techné achieved together with landscape architects ayus botanical.

‘it’s our mission to create sustainable spaces that will stand test of time, so we’ve used extremely durable materials while still making the space comfortable for patrons,’ – jonny mitchell, senior interior designer at technē.

the movida-owned taqueria is part of eastland shopping center’s new ‘town square’

banquette seating runs the length of the dining area, with different seating configurations to suit small and large parties. additionally, techné drew influences from revered mexican architect luis barragán throughout the restaurant, which is designed to feel like an open-air piazza.
