liat eliav studio designs industrial ‘nina’- tapas restaurant in barcelona, spain, as a sunlit environment that blends old and new materials. the original shape and materiality of the ceiling have been preserved, while terrazzo tiles, concrete floors, and exposed electrical pipes with industrial aesthetics complete the interior. a round pink bar creates an intimate atmosphere and maintains a generous and flowing space that communicates with the restaurant’s window arches. terrazzo tiles, concrete floors + exposed pipes decorate liat eliav ‘nina’restaurant in barcelonaall images courtesy of jose hevia

liat eliav studio chose ‘aldo bernardi’ large streetlamps to decorate the stone wall of the restaurant, achieving a dominant presence on a block so powerful in its materiality and height. the large windows allow the charm of the place to spill out in an inviting way for the people walking on the sidewalk, and allow plenty of natural and pleasant light to enter at the same time. small bulbs were installed on the opposite wall to produce balance and stability in the venue.terrazzo tiles, concrete floors + exposed pipes decorate liat eliav ‘nina’restaurant in barcelona

preserving the original painted ceiling creates an authentic entrance foyer. the harmonious tension is also reflected on the floor, where terrazzo tiles were integrated into the smooth concrete surface. the exposed electrical pipes, the air conditioning systems, and the technical lighting were chosen in natural color to maintain the industrial layout.terrazzo tiles, concrete floors + exposed pipes decorate liat eliav ‘nina’restaurant in barcelona

a round pink bar was designed to create an intimate atmosphere when sitting at the bar, and to maintain a spacious and flowing environment that communicates with the window arches. building the bar was challenging in itself; installing a rounded carrera stone surface within rounded iron angles required perfect accuracy during production and installation. the bar was covered piece by piece from a roller shutter door. terrazzo tiles, concrete floors + exposed pipes decorate liat eliav ‘nina’restaurant in barcelonaterrazzo tiles, concrete floors + exposed pipes decorate ‘nina’restaurant in barcelonaterrazzo tiles, concrete floors + exposed pipes decorate ‘nina’restaurant in barcelona
