Husband and wife Emily and Seth Britt always wanted a place to escape their busy city life in Columbus, Ohio. After a year or so of planning, the pair turned their dream into reality by building their first shipping container home. Nowadays, the Britts have their own company called The Box Hop, where they rent out container homes, which they design and build, as short term vacation retreats. The newest addition to their portfolio is a five bedroom cabin called The Hygge Box Hop situated in a remote site in Rockbridge, just 12 miles from Hocking Hills State Park.

The two story Hygge Box Hop is built from a total of seven stacked shipping containers: three measuring 12 meters, and four measuring 6 meters. Designed to sleep around 10 people, the cabin is ideal for extended families or large groups of friends. 

During the stay, guests can enjoy a whole load of features including four private balconies, a six-person sauna, a hot tub, and a large 112 sqm outdoor patio space. There’s also a BBQ grill and two suspended wood burning fireplaces—one inside and one outside.

The interiors are cozy and welcoming thanks to Scandinavian-style decor and a combination of natural and blackened timber finishes. The rental price of the Hygge Box Hop starts from $386 per night. See the full listing on Airbnb here, and check out the video below for a full tour of the cabin.
