'the minimal hut' to share 100 micro-dwellings in 100 days

over the last two months, a california-based architecture and real estate firm has been sharing the design of one unique cabin each day. with the ambition of revealing 100 designs in 100 days, ‘the minimal hut’ project allows anyone to purchase and instantly download the blueprints for the structures. buyers can also customize the design to suit their specific needs or the requirements of their property. ‘you can share the design with your contractor, build the hut on your own time, or hire us to manage the entire process from start to finish,’ says the team behind the initiative.

the minimal hut is the brainchild of jeremy and mao tooke who run tooke & co., a firm based in manhattan beach, california. a website lets potential buyers browse a range of micro architecture, from saunas and studies to three-bedroom properties. the team says that they can work with potential buyers to find a property to build on. in addition, thanks to a partnership with non-profit organization one tree planted, eight trees are planted for every hut sold.

‘a great home provides each person their own definition of luxury,’ says the team. ‘for some, luxury is silence and privacy. for others, luxury is an active street with friends, families and neighbors. maybe for you, luxury is an ocean view or a home in the woods. whatever it may be, we have a hut for you.’ at the time of writing, 51 huts have been shared on instagram with another 49 to come. follow along here as the 100 cabins in 100 days journey continues.
