the idea of sustainability and the environment

when matt hobbs and lisa tranter, the founders of the tailored tiny co., thought of designing luxury and comfort, they invested their time in research, reading, drawing, and watching episodes of tiny homes. lisa had always liked the idea of sustainability, the environment, and a small carbon footprint. a fantasy to design and create a tiny home seemed to be the most achievable way to fulfill this dream. ‘convincing matt was the next plan, the duo shares.the rest is history.’ soon enough, they materialized their first luxurious, tiny home in australia, complete with how they envisioned it.

‘we are all about sustainability, having a minimal environmental impact, with the plan to go off-grid. our tiny space is completely individual and designed with luxury in mind. just because your house is small doesn’t mean you have to skimp out on the finer things, writes matt and lisa. they started with a picturesque property in the blue mountains in australia. what better way to start a project than with the right backdrop, one that overviews the immaculate ridges of the mountains cloaked in the blue horizon of the sky and the sense of calm of the landscape. the couple could not ask for a more perfect location. over the course of three months and trials and errors, they designed and produced a tiny home that exudes opulence and tranquility within the same space.

high-end, luxurious dwelling

matt’s skill as a builder is evident. he has his own business remodeling kitchens and bathrooms, and his skill and experience show in all the details. the black exterior of the home, coupled with its height and remarkable modern shade cloths which cover the deck, give this tiny home an almost-imposing look. architecturally, this structure is sharp and beautiful. each and every way you look at it, there is something interesting about it,the couple shares.

the arrival of their tiny home is what matt and lisa consider a high-end, luxurious dwelling that suits their needs and wants. ‘again, just because it’s tiny doesn’t mean it should be missing all the luxuries life has to offer. we have a kitchen filled with full-sized appliances, a marble waterfall benchtop, and a gorgeous butler sink. a bathroom with a double-headed shower. a living room with a large entertainment system. a bedroom where you can stand below the natural light filling the space through the v-lux skylights, plus extra-large doors and windows.

catering to one’s needs and wants

matt and lisa also filled their tiny home with some quirky features. ‘for instance, we have our cats run out the back which gives our much-loved pets some space to play safely from the house. this entrance and exit from the home also stop the cats from needing an interior litter box, which is a big win,’  they continue to share.

the couple specializes in tailoring small spaces to one’s needs and lifestyles by analyzing the things that are important to one’s home and fitting them into a smaller footprint. ‘we started our journey after following the tiny house movement in the united states. the creativity expressed as well as the challenge of creating a functioning small space, without losing the comforts of a large house is what drew us to start designing and building our own tiny home.
