first announced towards the end of 2016, ‘waterline square’ is a manhattan masterplan set on nearly five acres of land along new york’s hudson river. set to become a complete neighborhood with a welcoming and convenient environment, it is located where midtown meets upper west side. the plans are composed of a trio of luxury residential towers, designed by richard meier, KPF and rafael viñoly respectively, with a greenspace in the center and three levels of amenities connecting the buildings below, which will be called the ‘waterline club’.

it looks like a sculpture, but this diamond form has a very important purpose, which is to deliver clear, optimal views from each residence,’ explains architect rafael viñoly. designing the third tower, which will be situated in the southeast corner of the plot, his design appears as a clear glass jewel amongst the ‘waterline square‘ condominiums. like the exterior itself, the residences are characterized by expressed corners and gently sloping exterior walls.

the interiors themselves, designed by groves & co, reflect the special character of the architecture. lavished in indulgent materials, the spaces detail a contemporary attitude that offers warmth and style while showcasing the building’s form. following this, there is a seamless flow in luxury between the residences, lobby and tower amenities.

below the 2.6 acre park designed by mathews nielsen landscape architects, the ‘waterline club’ is said to offer a resident amenities package that is one of the most comprehensive in the city. created by rockwell group, the 100,000 square feet of space provides sports, leisure and lifestyle offerings, including an indoor tennis court, a squash court, a 30-foot rock climbing wall, a fitness center, an enclosed catering kitchen, a bowling alley, a games lounge, a screening room, and studios that cater to art, music, recording, video, and photography.
