tokujin yoshioka has envisioned the scheme for the issey miyake flagship store. located in the heart of london, at 10 brook street, the 460 square meter space is conceived as a juxtaposition between textures such as dyed-blue aluminum and exposed concrete beams. in its previous life, the site was a former bank, now transformed into a retail store that takes its design cues from issey miyake’s acclaimed reality lab, combining the concept of technology and craftsmanship.

in spring 2015, the flagship will present another innovation from issey miyake: a product developed under the creative direction of fellow fashiong creative yoshiyuke miyamae. for the upcoming spring/summer 2015 collection, a series of fabrics based on a three-dimensional steam stretch process which alters flat fibers into origami-style forms when an iron is used, will be presented at the store.
