torafu architects has designed the interior of maison lexia, a japanese beauty brand known for its in-house production processes. sitting behind the columns of an office building’s ground floor in osaka’s yodoyabashi, the store features arch-shaped walls and passageways in changing pastel hues that loosely define the different spaces.

torafu applied different wall colors to the retail area, the counseling space and the treatment room which can be glimpsed through the arches designed to lead people deeper into the store. a collection of plant extracts is displayed on the wall reflecting the brand’s close relation to raw materials and extracts, while a painting depicting plants by painter nobuto fukutsu covers the entire entrance wall. terrazzo tiles on the floor and materials such as wood and iron in the furnishings reflect the refined elegance of the brand while arch-shaped elements extend to the columns of the outside building to create a sense of continuity between interior and exterior.
