trim studio completes a 10-square-meter tiny house for newlywed couple in vancouver

local-based trim studio has recently completed a tiny house in vancouver for a newlywed couple. dubbed galiano 100 — or ohana, meaning family in hawaiian — the dwelling is just 100 square foot (9.29 square meters) and overlooks the lights of the canadian city.

facing northeast towards vancouver, the galiano 100 tiny house by trim studio responds to its surroundings by taking advantage of the wooded area and the splendid views. the studio faced a challenge when the brief asked for a house no bigger than 100 square foot (9.29 square meters) and no taller than 16 feet (4.88 meters) high. the requirements included a living area, kitchen, wood-burning stove, bathroom, bedroom, patio, log storage, and an outdoor shower.

‘rodrigo and his team did an amazing job at designing our southern gulf island bunkie,’ comment kris and ali alexander, the galiano 100 home owners. ‘we gave rodrigo a stack of photos of different elements we liked and he put together an amazingly cool designed tiny home. it is exactly what we had in mind when we started this process and were so happy to work with trim studio.’

comprised of two levels, the tiny house features floor-to-ceiling glass sliding doors, making the space feel larger while generating a connection with the outside. a small porch embraces three sides of the house where the outdoor shower, grill and log storage have been placed. an additional outdoor deck hosts a jacuzzi and seating area, perfect to enjoy the warm summer nights.

‘we live in a fast-paced and always-connected society where human interaction increasingly happens through digital technology,’ comments the studio. ‘at trim studio, we believe that now, more than ever, the spaces people inhabit can provide an important way to regain a healthy connection to the world.’
