over three levels, and an area of 1023 ft2 (95 m2), UGO architecture has realized a contemporary residence with an individual character in poznan, poland. located within the warzelnia housing complex, the bronek apartment is designed to maximize the space and the views, which include picturesque forests and brewery ponds.

the apartment spans over one floor and two mezzanine levels, which help give the space an airy, loft-like feel. upon entering, residents pass by a small toilet and coat cupboard before stepping into the open plan kitchen and dining room, which extends outside onto a terrace. this floor also contains the living room and a large window to bring in swathes of natural light. the bedroom, wardrobe and the open bathroom with a bathtub are situated on the mezzanine, designed by UGO to be the owner’s private space.

the main purpose of the design is to emphasize the views of the surrounding nature, plan a large storage space for the owner’s vinyl and wine collections, and preserve the character of the open space. as a result, the only separate room in the apartment is the small toilet on the ground floor, whereas the rest of the zones have become a homogeneous space, connected with a consistent color scheme and material palette.

due to numerous non-standard solutions, steel is the dominant material used in the creation of most elements, such as the kitchen arrangement, the vinyl storage shelves, and the double flight stairs. the height of the apartment allowed the third level to be implemented – the steel structure on which the bathtub is located. the uncovered concrete mezzanine ceiling creates balance with the aged oak panels on the floor. finally, the colors of the interior are maintained in earthy tones, linking to the natural surroundings outside.
