the transparent apartment by urban soul project revives the interiors of a historic greek building

greek design studio urban soul project created the interiors for an apartment located inside a 1930s historic building in downtown thessaloniki, greecethe design’s playful approach incorporates bold graphic elements, a unique material palette, and a colorful range of furniture pieces and accents.

the designers made all the interior spaces open towards the entrance, and are all unified in a large, square room. this space hosts the living and dining rooms, as well as the master bedroom, all in consecutive order. the master bathroom is located in the center of the apartment and is open through a curved glass wall towards the front view.

the apartment’s light and graphic interiors provide a refreshing new life for the historic building. the white walls and ceilings contrast the black frames holding the glass that divides the apartment’s spaces. the transparent dividers still allow for light to pass throughout the entire residence, yet separate the rooms from each other. the black and white checkerboard carpet complements the frames and covers the living room floorspace. the color palette is enhanced by the pink and mint colored furniture pieces. circular hanging mirrors and spherical lighting fixtures match the fun, geometric graphics.

a colorful material palette throughout the apartment creates an eclectic aesthetic language. the entrance hosts a mixed black, tan and green terrazzo tile, which is followed by light oak wood flooring throughout most of the apartment. greek green marble covers the surface of the bathroom sink top, clads the shower, and lines the floor of the master bathroom. white woven reed is incorporated in lacquer doors and closets, and matches tan woven reed in furniture pieces such as the bed frame. mint cabinets are paired with white marble counters in the kitchen, adding an enlivening twist to the area.
