preparations and installation of the six diptychs crimson architectural historians are presenting at the 2012 venice architecture biennale

since 1994, crimson architectural historians has functioned as a hybrid practice, responding to the need for architecture historians to be involved in the analysis and planning of global urban centres. invited to participate in the 13th venice architecture biennale, the dutch firm is presenting ‘the banality of good: six decades of new towns, architects, money and politics’, a historical and present day comparison that outlines the evolution of six urban centres over time. six diptychs will each represent a different city – planned over the course of the last six decades – documenting on one side the ideals and values of the highlighted metropolises, while the other depicts their actual current state and realities.
