located on a tiny corner lot at the heart of florianópolis city, brazil, ‘casa luís delfino’ by pimont arquitetura explores privacy, verticality and permeability. in an attempt to achieve this combination, the architects utilized pivoting panels coated with perforated aluminum sheets. opening towards the vegetation and facing the sun, the metal screens guarantee the desired level of shadow and privacy at any time during the day.vertical screens clad henrique pimont's house in brazil to achieve privacy + permeabilityall images courtesy of lio simas

henrique pimont set the living areas at the upper level while this volume draws influence from the contemporary brazilian houses wrapped by shading filters. viewed from the inside, the panels reveal all their transparency, ensuring rich visual contact with the vegetation and surroundings. the adjustable angles of the panels allow inhabitants to control the sun’s entry while ensuring plenty of natural light and ventilation to flow through the dwelling when is wanted. furthermore, once the metallic screens are closed, the interior volume is highlighted, where wood, concrete and metal are dominating the space.vertical screens clad henrique pimont's house in brazil to achieve privacy + permeability

the architects accentuated casa luís delfino’s verticality by strategically positioning wooden blinds to hide the master bedroom set on the ground level. moreover, they covered the garage area placing a sliding metallic screen that frames the plot, while providing the necessary privacy.vertical screens clad henrique pimont's house in brazil to achieve privacy + permeability
