titled way out and about wright 2021, the virtual tour will take place on may 14-16, 2021, beginning with the dorothy ann and sterling kinney house (1957) in amarillo texas. led by robin gilliland — the current home owner — the tour will uncover gilliland’s experience on the restoration she did to the house when she bought it from the kinney family back in 2004. the tour will continue with the ziegler house, boasting a prairie-period design which makes it stand out from its traditional neighbors.

on saturday the virtual tour begins with the pilgrim congregational church in redding, california, which uses wright’s rubble stone masonry together with concrete framing to hold the roof. congregation member and docent larry solberg will lead our tour of the church, which will include views of a 3D model of wright’s complete design. the next state covered in the tour is the sutton house in mccook, nebraska, which has undergone several alterations including a fire. current owners jan and van korell, who will lead our tour, have restored both the interior and exterior of the house. in acknowledgement of their dedicated stewardship, the conservancy presented the korells with a wright spirit award in 2019.

the tour concludes on sunday with the shavin house in chattanooga, tennessee with its distinctive butterfly roof. it will be led by karin shavin who will share fond memories of growing up there and her parent’s love for the house. the last building, the margaret and patrick kinney house in lancaster, wisconsin, will be showcased through a video production titled a house lived in by archie kinney, grandson of the original clients.

sessions will be held via zoom and each one will feature a single building. a recording will be available shortly afterward.
