visionary cities project — led by alexander eisenschmidt — has just opened their exhibition ‘collective city’ at the bi-city biennale of urbanism and architecture in shenzhen, china. the work explores the spatial, organizational, and material ingenuities born from necessity in our rapidly urbanizing global communities. ‘collective city’ is a curation of several hundred urban inventions; from gibraltar’s street-runway, to the bygone stilt houses of biscayne bay. opposite, a large curved wall displays a massive panorama that composes all inventions into one drawing, the global ‘collective city’.
