VTN architects creates network of brick volumes for training center in vietnam

VTN architects (vo trong nghia architects) has designed educational center for viettel — vietnam’s largest mobile network operator. the complex is located 30 kilometers (19 miles) outside of central hanoi, and joins a concrete office building that was also designed by VTN for viettel. the brick buildings provide short-term accommodation and training courses for the company’s staff, away from the hustle and bustle of city life.

constructed from locally sourced red bricks, VTN architects’ design comprises 12 blocks that contain classrooms, meeting rooms, halls, and offices. viettel’s educational center forms part of a larger campus named hoa lac hi-tech park, which remains readily accessible from the nearby residential communities. the site’s main blocks are four to five storeys, with the remainder two to three storeys high. these volumes are surrounded by an overflow pool, which meanders through the complex in order to help regulate its microclimate.

the blocks are linked by corridors, ramps, and staircases, which are connected at different levels. doubling as an additional circulation route, a lightweight concrete roof covers the majority of the site’s semi-outdoor spaces, protecting staff from the hot sun and tropical climate. meanwhile, an integrated garden system provides space for trainees to relax and congregate outdoors, with roof terraces providing additional outdoor space.

the first floor garden system is arranged alternately among the blocks, creating a friendly atmosphere for trainees and bringing them closer to nature. roof gardens on different floors form a series of hanging gardens that provides students a relaxing space for interaction during breaks. see designboom’s previous coverage of the project here.
